Our story

Started on a farm. Grew across an island.

2015

Dover Farm

It started with one problem: decent internet for the neighbourhood around Dover Farm. We put up the first link and got the neighbours connected.

2016–2022

Tower by tower

Word got around. We kept building — more towers, more links, homes, farms, businesses and government sites, into the corners of the island the big telcos don't bother with.

Today

Across the island

Our network spans Kangaroo Island, and our core now runs from a mainland data centre with multiple carrier connections — the network keeps getting better every year. Still the same local crew, with a phone number a real islander answers.

What is the Dover Digital island network?

It's our own wireless network — built, owned and run right here on Kangaroo Island since 2015. It serves homes, farms, businesses and government sites right across the island, including plenty of places NBN doesn't reach. You deal with us for everything: install, support, the lot.

NBN, satellite or the island network — which should I choose?

Honest answer: it depends on your place. NBN Fixed Wireless is solid where it's available — check your address above. The island network reaches where NBN doesn't, offers business-grade options and failover, and is supported locally by us. And because it's fixed ground infrastructure, it gives the most consistent latency — which is what matters for video calls, EFTPOS and cloud apps. Not sure? Why does fixed wireless beat satellite?

Fixed wireless runs on local infrastructure — towers fixed to the ground here on KI, connected through to a mainland data centre. That means lower latency and consistent performance for video calls, EFTPOS and cloud apps, in any weather. And when something needs attention, it's supported by someone who can drive to your place — not a satellite support queue.

Can I use the island network as a backup for my NBN?

Yes — that's our business failover service. You keep your NBN as the primary connection, and our island network takes over automatically if it drops, so EFTPOS, bookings and email keep working. Several island businesses already run this way. See Business & Accommodation or get in touch.

Do you do guest WiFi for accommodation?

Yes — property-wide guest WiFi for hotels, lodges, caravan parks and Airbnbs, on commercial-grade gear, with the guest network kept separate from your office systems. See Business & Accommodation for the details.

What is NBN Fixed Wireless?

NBN Fixed Wireless uses a small antenna installed on your roof to connect to a nearby NBN tower. It delivers fast broadband without needing a physical cable connection to your property — ideal for regional and rural areas like Kangaroo Island.

How do I know if I can get NBN Fixed Wireless?

Are the plans really unlimited?

Yes — all of our NBN Fixed Wireless plans come with unlimited data. There are no download caps or excess usage charges. Stream, browse, work from home, and game as much as you like.

Are the prices shown inclusive of GST?

The headline prices on our plans are GST-inclusive. We also show the ex-GST price for transparency. For example, our 100/20 plan is $110 + GST = $121/month.

Is there a lock-in contract?

No — our plans are month-to-month with no lock-in contracts. You're free to change plans or cancel at any time.

What equipment do I need?

NBN Fixed Wireless requires an outdoor antenna and an NBN connection box installed at your property. If you don't already have one, NBN Co will arrange the installation. You'll also need a compatible router — we can help you with that.

What speeds can I expect?

Our plans offer download speeds of 100, 250, or 400Mbps with upload speeds of 20 or 40Mbps. Actual speeds may vary depending on network conditions, your location, and the number of connected devices, but Fixed Wireless delivers strong and consistent performance for most users.

Can I keep my existing phone number?

Our NBN plans are data-only internet services. If you have a home phone, you may be able to use a VoIP service to keep your number — contact us to discuss your options.
